After Read the new features info, now you can find what is the new feature in Lucid Lynx 10.04 -LTS here:
No New Interface
If you wish, hopping like Gnome or 3 in the next release you will be disappointed. Gnome 3 will not be used as the default environment. 10.04 Using Gnome 2.x as the default environment with the intent and focus on 3 Gnome use in future versions. Gnome 3 is not scheduled to be released until early 2010, but can already be tested in the early stages within 9.10. To test the Shell Gnome, install the package “gnome-shell, open a terminal and run” gnome-shell-replacement & “.
I read that Ayatana team working on an improved version of the GTK +, which will support RGBA. What does this mean you ask? In short this means that the streamlined interface that you’ve seen on Windows Vista and 7 (called Aero), Linux will have a theme that will be switched from the box, in order to mimic that look. It will be the global transparency for all applications. And this will be transparent to the widget-level there are no borders and window level.
The Look / Artwork
GNOME 3 will not be released in time for 10.04. The Ayatana Ubuntu Team of developers working on an improved version of GTK +, which will support RGBA. This sleek Aero interface that Windows Vista and 7 use a standard Linux to take on that theme will be activated from the box for 10.04. This is out of the box goodness. This preference is not hacking, this is out of the box, global transparency for all applications. And this is the transparency at the widget level – not the border and window level
Speed
Benchmarking is the demand of 10.04 is very alpha. But word of Canonical that coveted 10 seconds to boot just to make it bloom. What they do is aimed at a mid-range device to achieve the 10 seconds time. This means some machines will start soon and some slower. The targeted machine: a Dell Mini 9 netbook. If they can one netbook to be launched in 10 seconds, imagine how fast your quad core will start!
Also along the lines of the speed improvements is the installation time. Ubuntu will be 10.04 (installed under the hood) a little different than previous versions. In earlier versions of the installation of downloads needed to first occur. Now downloads and installation will be done in parallels so much short installation time.
Ubuntu Software Center
With the Ubuntu 9.10 Ubuntu Software Center (UBC) was introduced. It was an improvement over the Synaptic manager. But now with the Ubuntu 10.04 USC finally take over as the only way to install Ubuntu. Synaptic, gdebi, and even the Update Manager will be replaced by USC.
Hopefully it will include the ability to USC more than a piece of software to install at a time.
Mark Shuttleworth’s announcement
Participants in breakout session Ubuntucon Atlanta Linux Fest’s among the first to hear directly Lucid Lynx announcement of Mark Shuttleworth himself.
Software Coming Out / In
With the launch of Ubuntu 9.10 has decided to take out Pidgin IM client. Instead they made Empathy (Edit – thanks guys typed the wrong thing) the major IM client. I tried it and did not like. Pidgin is lacking in video-conferencing, but it still has a lot of features that I have grown very accustomed to.
With the launch of the 10.04 rumor going around that this time they take from Gimp. Yes, the program that is like Photoshop on Linux. Infact with some adjustments and some plugins that I’ve seen some tutorials and screen casts showing that Gimp can do the same things as Photoshop.
Ubuntu tries to make things easy for the user to keep them feeling that Gimp is a bit complicated. I agree, it is not for the average user. It requires some basic knowledge of what you want. Yet it is a very powerful program. Because the Linux you have the option to install it after your first install, but by default Ubuntu is going to provide to F-Spot.
F-Spot will most users the ability to see the pictures as they need and want change. If Gimp is like Photoshop Elements would be F-Spot. It will work for most people but I will remove and install Gimp as I know that’s what I want and need.
Rumors
I’ve heard rumors about a new menu called “MeMenu” coming out with this launch. I do not know much about this as it just recently came to my attention. In short what I understand is that it will be a menu that is built around social networking (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).

Things I hope or wish Ubuntu 10.04
I know we all have our wishes and expectations as the new versions of Ubuntu have been released. Once again I am not a professional or an expert with Linux. I’m still learning. I recommend Ubuntu to friends, family, heck even strangers now. But there are things that can be a little better.
First I want to work wirelessly from the box. When I started with Ubuntu 8.04 it was terrible. I still to this day have no idea how my friends where able to get it working. They had to install ndiswrapper and the. Exe download (that just sounds wrong) and configure. I swear it was a shot in the dark at the time. Even with a supported card is not easy. It is easier yes, but it could be better.
Second, sound. I’ve always been able to tell that the sound is not as good as it could be. I admit it is better with the launch of 9.04 received and I hope it is better. But it still feels that it is missing.
With the help of these two areas, I think Ubuntu would be a good stable base to stand on have. Wireless is the only thing I always creep about when I talk to others about Ubuntu. But even with that I still think Ubuntu is a very solid OS.
